Persian Cat Owners Responsibilities

The Persian cat’s extravagant, flowing, elegant coat demands a lot of grooming. The coat is very long and dense. There needs to be more than the simple act of brushing.

To stop mats from developing in the Persian cat, a Persian with a long coat must comb daily using the wide-toothed metal comb and then brush using a soft, slicked brush.

While brushing Persian cats, you must carefully separate their hair and ensure your combing to the bottom, or mats can sneakily develop under the hair’s long length. Regular bathing is essential to ensure that the coat is clean.

This could also reduce the possibility of mats. After bathing, the coat needs to be properly dried using the help of a pet hair dryer which is cooler than human hair dryers, to ensure that you don’t cause burns to the sensitive skin of your cat or make it overheat.

Persian cats also require their face to be washed daily, their nails cut each week or every two weeks, and their ears checked and cleaned when they get filthy. If the coat gets matted up, it can be difficult to remove.

Dematting Fur Balls

Dematting is tiring and painful for the cat. Sometimes, mats have to be removed (always by an experienced groomer or vet). Because of the difficulties involved in maintenance, certain Persian cat owners prefer to have their pets professionally groomed.

The groomer can shave the Persian cat’s belly to cut off some fat and remove mats around the stomach and beneath the armpits. Another option is to do a trimming lion which is when your cat’s body gets cut short, leaving soft hairs on its legs, head and tail.

Scratching is an additional physically stimulating cat’s favourite activity when in your home. Ensure to encourage scratching in the right areas by establishing approved scratching zones in your home.

Cat Health
